October was an exciting month for raising awareness on ADHD, Dyslexia, DCD, and celebrating our amazing occupational therapists!

Here at Perth Kids Hub, I've been actively participating in community events, including showcasing the platform and members at the Source Kids Disability Expo, discussing the benefits of repeating a school year on ABC Radio National, and contributing to a panel at Trinity College for ADHD Awareness Month.

Perth Paeds People Moves

  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr Philippa Carter is joining Subiaco's Esus Centre to support young people with eating disorders. She will continue to see clients at Oqea Cares.

  • Paediatrician Dr Grant Ferguson has opened Westerly Youth Clinic within The Swan Centre premises, accepting referrals for eating disorders in youth aged 10-24 years.

  • Paediatrician Dr Nikki Panotidis has closed her practice at The Swiss Family Clinic and her patients are now seeking new paediatricians for ongoing support.

  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr Rachel Hudson has joined Paeds Plus.

  • Greenhouse Paediatrics has opened a multi-disciplinary practice in Karrinyup offering occupational therapy, speech pathology and paediatrics for sleep and medical concerns. Founders include physio David Philpot and paediatrician Paul Wallman.

  • Antonella Serge is stepping down as CEO of ADHD WA with the Board recruiting for a new CEO. Reachelle Beasley has been announced as the new CEO of Spectrum Space.

  • Natalee Blakemore and Diversum Health Group are growing a hub of small businesses who practice a neuro-affirming approach from their Fremantle clinic. Claire Britton's Neuroinclusion team has joined the hub and will offer clinic sessions in addition to their mobile and online sessions.

  • Education and Developmental Psychologist Kathryn Monaco and Occupational Therapist Ashleigh Smith are set to join Western Kids Health.

  • Emily Burchfield is returning from maternity leave and rejoining the team at Perth Kids Physio inside BabySteps Health Centre in Subiaco.

  • Eimear Quigley will join Amherst Psychology as their new Clinical Manager. Eimear was Chief Psychologist and Clinical Services Manager at Oqea Cares.

  • Mark Fitzpatrick was honoured with a Life Membership of Telethon Speech and Hearing in appreciation of seven years of leadership as their CEO. Mark will lead the PeopleKind Group which manages organisations including Cahoots, Liift Learning, Melior Positive Behaviour Support and Superyou.

  • Deb Banning has sold Family Agility and Body Agility to Uvana Sewpersadh of Malitha Holdings. Uvana is the General Manager of LifeLift, which is also a registered NDIS provider.

Industry News

  • Wagtail Therapy will cease providing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services to new clients. Existing clients will continue to be supported until October 2025 with PBS or can transition to using general therapy under Improved Daily Living funding or a mental health care plan.

  • PDA Conference in Perth: Heidi Brandis of PDA Training Australia has announced plans to host the first Australian PDA Conference in Perth on 12 November 2025.

  • Autism Level UP: a collaboration with Calming Kids Australia means a printed copy of "The Energy Manual" can now be purchased locally saving nearly $90 on postage.


WA Wins at
Allied Health Awards

Congratulations to Chris Pearce from Occupational Therapy Services Group, named Occupational Therapist of the Year, and to Western Kids Health for winning the Paediatric Team Excellence and Allied Health Team Culture Excellence awards. Amazing achievements!


Source Kids 2024
Disability Expo

With over 2,100 attendees, the Source Kids Disability Expo was a fantastic opportunity to connect with families.

I'm grateful for the support of members who joined me on the Perth Kids Hub stand: Prosper Health Collective, Flourish Assessment & Consulting, Full Circle Dietetics, Strength Heroes, Genomic Health, Kid Speak and CliniKids.


Albany Assessment Centre

Following the success of the August clinic, I'm thrilled to announce that clinical psychologist Kelly Fullarton of Flourish Assessment and Consultancy will be running a second Albany assessment centre, thanks to the Perron Community Foundation.

The upcoming clinic will be held from 11 to 15 November, proviidng ADHD, autism and learning assessments. EOIs are open for regional centres with a minimum of five assessments required.


Parents for the Inclusion of
Neurodivergent Children (PINC)

During ADHD Awareness Month, I joined Trinity College's PINC for their second parent evening: a panel on ADHD.

The panel included professionals OT Tom Burchfield, ADHD Parent Coach Susan Hughes and CEWA School Psychologist Lynsey.
